Christmas Bake Sale – Year 13

At break and lunch on Friday, a bake sale took place in the dining hall, cakes were sold to all year groups, it was organised by Year 13’s as a fundraiser for the Salvation Army and some of the money goes towards the funding for their end of year prom.  This was a huge success raising over £200.

IAG Day Year 13

On the 26th November students were involved in a whole school IAG day. Year 13s were involved in a fun filled day of cooking and learning about money management, preparing them for independence once they go to university. Everyone had the opportunity to make a dish from a selection of curry or chili con carne, which they had to prepare and cook independently. The cooking was everyone’s favourite activity of the day, especially Miss Harris who had fun tasting them.

IAG Day Year 12

The IAG day for year 12 provided students with the opportunity to be involved in a range of activities.  The day started with all students reviewing their latest ROP and setting SMART targets to help them improve.  They also completed a workshop on managing money, completed CPR training and had a presentation about Kooth.

The first session was useful as it allowed students to reflect on their current progress and set themselves realistic manageable targets.  Opportunities were also provided to focus on our career aspirations and post-18 choices.

The money management and budgeting session was useful as it focused on how to budget and prioritise your spending.  An important skill that we will all need as move beyond the sixth form.

The CPR session was both useful and fun, we learnt about how and when to give CPR.  All students were provided with an opportunity to practice and demonstrate what they had learnt.  Upon completion all students were rewarded a certificate provided by the British Heart Foundation.

The final session of the day was led by an external visitor had come to school to talk about a program called Kooth,  that helps individuals from 13+ to overcome different situations using a variety of methods and provides excellent advice from professional advisors.

Aldersley High School Year 12 Awards Ceremony and Certificate Presentation.

On 29th November, Aldersley’s Class of 2018 were invited to attend an awards evening to celebrate their achievements at Key stage 4.

The evening started with an inspirational and motivational speech from our special guest, the Queen’s representative Deputy Lieutenant Mr Martin Levermore MBE and Ms Michele Taylor.

This was followed by subject awards, accompanied by such passionate and kind speeches from staff to our amazing students.  It was lovely to see so many students being recognised for their amazing achievements.

The students had a wonderful time and parents all left happy and proud of their amazing children.

Students from Moreton School will be celebrating their successes in the next few day; we hope to bring you photos from both events in the next edition.
