Careers education is central to our curriculum, equipping students with the knowledge, skills and experiences needed to make informed and ambitious choices about their futures.
Meeting the Benchmarks
High-quality careers education is a central part of our Personal Development programme. Led by Mr Baker (Careers Leader) and Mrs Everiss (Careers Advisor), our CEIAG provision ensures all students have the knowledge, skills and experiences to make informed choices for their futures. It also meets the requirements of the Provider Access Legislation (PAL), guaranteeing that students can access information from approved education and training providers. Structured Careers Curriculum
From Year 7 to Year 13, students follow a carefully sequenced programme that develops employability skills, explores future pathways, and supports progression into further education, training, or employment.
Local Labour Market Information (LMI)
Students receive regular updates about local, regional, and national career sectors, skills in demand, and progression routes, helping them align ambition with opportunity.
Aspire Weeks
These dedicated weeks provide immersive experiences, including employer visits, university trips, apprenticeship workshops, and STEM activities, encouraging students to explore career pathways and develop confidence in their next steps.
Year Group Career Events
Students benefit from mock interviews, work-related learning and work experience, options guidance, taster sessions, and Post-16/18 progression activities. These opportunities ensure students experience a broad range of careers and develop essential employability skills.
Provider Access Legislation (PAL)
The school fully complies with PAL by guaranteeing that all students can engage with external providers of education and training. This includes colleges, sixth forms, universities, and apprenticeship providers. These sessions ensure students receive impartial advice and are aware of the full range of post-16 options.
Employer and Education Encounters
Through careers fairs, workshops, assemblies, and one-to-one guidance, students experience meaningful encounters with employers and education providers. This allows them to make informed, aspirational decisions about their pathways.
By embedding PAL within the wider careers programme, students are equipped to work hard, aim high, and succeed in achieving their future goals.

Careers education is a central part of your journey from Year 7 to Year 13. Our careers programme is designed to help you understand your strengths, explore a wide range of pathways, and make informed and confident decisions about your future.
You will follow a structured careers curriculum delivered through lessons, assemblies, tutor time and enrichment activities. This programme develops employability skills such as teamwork, communication, resilience and decision-making, while also supporting you to explore different career sectors and progression routes.
Students regularly access local, regional and national Labour Market Information (LMI) to understand where opportunities exist, which skills are in demand, and how subjects link to future careers. This ensures aspirations are ambitious, realistic and well-informed.
Throughout the year, students take part in Aspire Weeks and year-group careers events, including employer talks, mock interviews, work-related learning, work experience preparation, college and university visits, apprenticeship workshops, and post-16 and post-18 progression activities.
All students are entitled to one-to-one careers guidance with a qualified careers adviser, ensuring impartial advice tailored to individual interests, strengths and future plans.

We recognise the important role that parents and carers play in supporting young people to make informed decisions about their future. Our careers programme ensures students receive high-quality, impartial careers education, information, advice and guidance, while keeping families informed and involved.
Our provision is aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks, ensuring a structured and progressive careers programme that includes employer encounters, experiences of workplaces, and meaningful engagement with education and training providers.
Students are supported to understand Labour Market Information (LMI) so they can link subjects and qualifications to future employment opportunities. This information reflects current local, regional and national trends.
Clear guidance is provided on student finance, apprenticeships, further education and higher education pathways through assemblies, careers events and individual guidance interviews. Parents and carers are encouraged to attend careers evenings and information events where possible.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Work experience forms an important part of our careers programme, enabling students to develop practical skills, confidence and an understanding of workplace expectations.
Students are supported to prepare for work experience through careers lessons, assemblies and guidance sessions. This includes support with:
- Identifying appropriate placements
- Writing CVs and applications
- Preparing for interviews
- Understanding health and safety requirements
Work experience placements allow students to gain first-hand insight into different industries and roles, supporting informed decision-making about future education, training or employment. Reflection activities following placements help students recognise and articulate the skills they have developed.
DESTINATIONS
We monitor and analyse student destinations data to evaluate the impact of our careers programme and ensure students progress successfully to their next stage.
Students move on to a range of destinations, including:
- School sixth forms and colleges
- Apprenticeships and traineeships
- Universities
- Employment with training
Destinations data is used to identify trends, celebrate success and inform future planning, ensuring our careers provision continues to meet the needs of students and reflects labour market changes.

Employers play a vital role in preparing students for the world of work. We welcome partnerships with local, regional and national employers who wish to support our careers programme and inspire young people.
