Aldersley’s CPLD Department
This three year course is aimed at a range of learners who wish to be introduced to childcare and development for children aged 0-5 years. It provides the opportunity to gain a vocational qualification that gives a basic introduction to the sector. It includes the knowledge and understanding of child development and well-being necessary when preparing for working with children in a variety of settings. It also gives learners an insight into their preferred learning styles and assists in developing their ability to study.
The course will teach students to be able to work collaboratively and individually to develop specific knowledge and skills, such as planning and reviewing. To focus, with maturity and empathy on the learning, development and care of children from birth to five years. The learners are given an opportunity to acquire academic knowledge and skills that they can apply in a health and social care context. The course will prepare students for further study at Level 3, such as a BTEC National in Health and Social Care, which prepares learners to enter employment or apprenticeships, or to move onto higher education by studying a degree in aspects of health and social care.
