History

History at Aldersley equips students with the knowledge and skills to understand the world and prepare for life beyond school.

The History department develops students’ ability to analyse, evaluate, and interpret events, while promoting social, moral, and cultural understanding. Our lessons are engaging and varied, designed to inspire curiosity and identify talent in every pupil. The curriculum is scaffolded and robust, ensuring all students are supported to reach their potential.

We also provide opportunities for students to experience live historical and cultural events, highlighting the broader value of studying history and the arts. These experiences help pupils see how the skills gained in history – critical thinking, analysis, and cultural awareness – apply far beyond the classroom and into future careers.
