Aladdin Performance
Good evening,
I hope that you have all had a good weekend despite the heat. I understand that there are concerns around the rehearsals and planned performances of Aladdin this coming week. It is very difficult to make a decision that everyone is happy with in the current situation. There are children that will feel anxious about performing if the rehearsal time is cut short and there are those that feel they’ve done enough and need to rest. When this first post-covid performance was first planned back in July 2021 I don’t think any of us expected to be dealing with yet another unprecedented national event!
Rehearsals will continue tomorrow morning with the air conditioning in the Moreton theatre turned up to the highest setting. The primary schools have indicated that they won’t be in attendance therefore the Monday afternoon performance has been cancelled. We have a difficult decision to make tomorrow regarding the performances as although the audience will be comfortable, there is no air conditioning backstage and students will be in full costume and under hot lights. Inevitably, we will have disappointed students and parents if we need to readjust performance times however, we must do what is right to keep everyone safe.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support,
Nicola Bayliss
