Dear All,

As we move through week 3 of the academic year it is great to see our community back in full swing at Aldersley High School. Our enrichment program is now fully up and running and being very well attended with our KS4 tuition program started this week to support our KS4 students in preparation for their GCSE exams in the summer.

If you have any questions surrounding KS4 tuition please contact Ms Harris on aharris@aatrust.co.uk and any queries regarding enrichment please contact Mr Baker on jbaker@aatrust.co.uk Please encourage your Son / Daughter to make the most of the wide and varied offer of both enrichment activities and tuition at Aldersley High School. Year on Year research tells us that students who regularly attend enrichment sessions both perform better in academic exams and also report higher levels of happiness at school.

Inglestry Hall Music Residential:

Although we are only in week 3 of the academic year it is fantastic to be able to report on our first residential trip of the year. Our talented musicians visited Inglestry Hall for three days where they spent time practising, composing, rehearsing amongst other relaxing and challenging actitives. My thanks go to Mrs Berry, Ms Morris and Mrs Barnshaw for organising and supporting the residential.

Supporting Local Charities:

Last year at Aldersley High School we wanted to ensure all of our fundraising efforts contributed to the amazing work our local charities carry out in Wolverhampton to best support our wider community. Last week it was a privilege to welcome representatives from The Haven to both present them with a cheque as a result of our fundraising efforts, and for them to update our pupils during assembly on how our donation would contribute to their ongoing work supporting some of our cities vulnerable members. We look forward to continuing to work with our local charity partners throughout 2023 -2024 to support our wider communities.

Morning Student Arrival Times:

Can I take the opportunity to remind you that students should not be arriving on school site any earlier than 8:30am as staff supervision and duties start at 8:30. We are seeing an increasing number of students arriving as early as 7:45am – please note this is a safeguarding concern as our supervision starts at 8:30am. If students have been invited to attend morning tuition or enrichment they can access site at the stated time of their given enrichment or tuition session.

Lunch Time Arrangements:

Can I take the opportunity to thank those of you who have provided feedback and shared your concerns with our lunch time catering arrangements. Whilst it will always be busy as we serve over 1000 hot meals / grab and go options during lunch time,  we need to refine our systems to ensure students are all receiving the food they want in a timely manner. A meeting is taking place with our Trust Operations lead and catering team today to review and refine our provision to ensure our students lunch time experience improves.

Meet the Tutor Event:

On Monday 2nd October we are holding our Meet the Tutor event, 4:00pm – 5:30pm. This is your first opportunity this year to come and meet your Son / Daughters Personal Tutor and discuss their progress or any concerns you have regarding their experiences at Aldersley High School.

You should have received a link to book your appointment on School Cloud. If this is not the case please email Mr Baker jbaker@aatrust.co.uk who will be able to assist.

Uniform Expectations:

Please be reminded of our uniform expectations below, can I remind you that students should not be wearing a tight black skirt. The options or either black trousers or our tartan knee length skirt. If you require any assistance or clarification re our uniform expectations please do not hesitate to contact your Son / Daughters Head of Year.

As always, can I thank you for your ongoing support. It has been a fantastic start to the academic year at Aldersley High School and I look forward to seeing you all on the 2nd October.

Regards,

Mr Winzor
