Afro Caribbean Food Day #BlackHistoryMonth

This month at Aldersley High School we have been celebrating #BlackHistoryMonth and to end this week our new catering manager spoiled us with an absolute feast. The smell in the dining hall was mouth-watering and the food on offer was off the scale.

Ackee & Callaloo with Rice, Cabbage & carrots, Festive Dumplings and Curry Patties were all sensational but the true stars of this feast were the Curry Mutton and Jerk Chicken Wings, made to Mrs Johnson’s secret recipe.

As we went round the dining hall asking our students what they thought of the food, one thing was clear. There was hardly any waste and the paper plates were almost clean by the time the students had finished. Comments ranged from “This tastes better than the Jamaican takeaway we normally get our food from” to “When will be having this again?”

Thank you Mrs Johnson and thank you to all the dining room staff who helped out to make it a special day.
