Uniform Expectations
Uniform
Aldersley High School insists on high standards of uniform. It is important that the students take pride in their appearance and are aware of the impression their appearance makes within the community.
Our Expectations
We ask all parents who send their children to our school to support the school uniform policy. It is the responsibility of parents to ensure that their child has the correct uniform and that it is clean and in good repair.
Parents should label all items of school uniform, including shoes and trainers. The school cannot accept any responsibility for items of clothing lost in school: parents must instil in children the concept that they are responsible for their personal belongings.

Aldersley’s Uniform
- White school shirt with collar (top button fastened and shirt tucked in)
- School tie
- Grey Aldersley V-neck pullover (this is optional and must be worn with the school blazer not instead of). No other style or colour of the jumper will be accepted.
- Aldersley grey blazer with the school badge.
- Plain black, full-length, straight-legged school trousers that hang from the waist. Boot cut, drainpipe, tight, tapered, flare, cargo, or turn-up style trousers are not permitted. Trousers containing denim or Lycra are not permitted. Adornments, including zips (ornamental or pocket), are not permitted.
- Official Aldersley knee-length skirt with school logo. Please note, that this is the only skirt allowed.
- Belts should be black without any adornment, for example, studs, sequins, glitter etc., and should be worn to support trousers rather than as an additional fashion accessory.
- Plain black ankle socks. When wearing a skirt, plain black ankle, or knee socks, or 80-100 denier black tights must be worn. White sports socks, ankle warmers and fluffy socks are not permitted.
- Appropriate outdoor coat can be brought to school. Coats must not be worn inside the building at any time.
- All students inside the building are expected to wear their blazer and tie, with their shirt tucked into their trousers.
- Hoodies and sweatshirts are not permitted on the school site. Any hoodies or sweatshirts will be confiscated at the start of the school day and placed in student reception until the end of the school day.
Footwear
- Suitable formal, black, low-heeled shoes should be worn.
- Trainers, branded sports shoes, boots, pumps, sliders, open-toed, backless shoes are not permitted. Any form of trainer-inspired footwear is not permitted.
Examples of footwear that are not permitted are: Crocs, Vans, Converse, Nike, Nike Air Force, Nike Air Max, Adidas, Puma or similar sport brands.
Also, boots such as Kickers Kick Hi and Clarks Lorcam Trail are not permitted.
Boots and high heeled shoes are not permitted.
Stitching, logos, motifs, adornments, or colours are not permitted.
Some high street stores will brand footwear in their ‘back to school’ range when, in fact, the style of footwear is based upon a trainer. For example, Clarks sell trainer-inspired style footwear, and the following styles are not acceptable:
- Selva Edge Youth & Kid,
- Crafton Move Youth & Kid,
- Jaspen Vibe,
- Daze Bright Youth & Kid,
- Urban Solo Youth & Kid
Jewellery
The only permitted jewellery that may be worn is:
- A single plain ring may be worn. Sovereigns and rings with raised stones are not permitted.
- One pair of stud earrings 5mm in diameter, one in each ear lobe.
- Facial piercings are not permitted, and nose studs are discouraged. If parents/carers wish for their student to have a nose piercing, it must be plain silver or gold and smaller than 5 mm in diameter.
- Students are permitted to wear one single nose stud. Any other facial/body piercings (including tongues) are not permitted.
- Ear stretchers are NOT permitted.
- Clear plastic retainers are not permitted.
- A single plain necklace (e.g., a cross and a chain) may be worn but this must not be on show at any point during the school day.
- Bracelets should not be worn unless for religious reasons.
- Jewellery is the responsibility of the student and not the school. Lost or damaged items will not be refunded or replaced.
Make-Up
- Make up should be subtle and kept to a minimum.
- Nails should be no longer than 5mm in length from the tip of the finger. Students will not be allowed to be in school lessons with nails exceeding 5mm in length.
- Students wearing excessive make-up will be required to remove it or, if appropriate, will be sent home to remove it.
Hairstyles, headwear and neckwear
- Hair should be neat and smart.
- Hair adornments such as large flowers/bows are not permitted.
- Bandanas, durags, snoods, beanie hats and baseball caps are not permitted.
- Branded sports headbands are not permitted.
- Headscarves can be worn for religious purposes and conform to the requirements below:
The fabric should be lightweight, and the headscarf must be folded under the chin, taken round to the back of the neck and the ends tucked in. This conforms to the health and safety and school requirements. The headscarf must be worn so that the collar and tie can be seen clearly.
- Any other kind of head covering, unless for medical or religious purposes, is not permitted.
Face coverings
- We do not allow any students to wear any form of facial covering other than medical style face masks which are being worn for medical reasons.
Aldersley PE Kit
Upper Body
- Aldersley PE T Shirt including school logo
- Aldersley PE ¼ zip including school logo
- Students cannot wear any other tops for PE that are not part of the school PE kit for example:
Football jerseys and branded sportswear t shirts or jumpers - A base layer of plain black may also be worn under PE kit
- Students are allowed to wear any old Aldersley branded items until they purchase new PE kit
Lower body
- Aldersley PE shorts with logo or plain black shorts with one small, branded logo. This cannot be football club badge.
- Aldersley track pants with logo or plain black tracksuit bottoms with one small, branded logo. This cannot be a football badge or track pants with large logos or branding throughout the garment.
- No shorts or tracksuits bottoms are allowed with any stripes down them
- No plain black leggings are allowed
- Black football socks or black / white ankle socks
- Trainers
- No crocs allowed
- No cycling shorts
- Students are allowed to wear any old Aldersley branded items until they purchase new PE kit
